We are always looking for ways to improve the experience we offer our clients. Whether it is simply having a nice, hot cup of coffee, to adding a whole new set of services and therapies.
We believe counseling is essential in maintaining good mental health, but we also recognize there are other therapies that can be beneficial to mental well-being.
We are pleased to announce that in the months to come, one of the new services offered at Garrison Counseling will be therapeutic massage!
So how can therapeutic massage compliment the mental health services we already offer?
Massage has a direct impact on the brain chemicals that regulate mood by lowering stress hormones, like cortisol, while boosting feel-good neurotransmitters including serotonin, oxytocin, and dopamine. The result is a feeling of well-being and sharper mental focus.
Research consistently shows that massage relieves stress. Just a single session has been shown to reduce high levels of fight or flight hormones while releasing the natural endorphins that improve mood and promote feelings of calm. It can also increase awareness of the mind-body connection, generate confidence, and enhance self-image. Periodic massage sessions can also help reduce stress by promoting mental presence.
